Dr. Huong Nguyen Rangel is our newest Therapeutic and Glaucoma Certified Optometrist. Not only does she provide comprehensive eye exams for eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions for both adults and children, but also Dr. Nguyen Rangel is skilled in treating symptoms such as red eyes, dry eyes, ocular allergies, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and ocular toxicity evaluations including plaquenil/hydroxychloroquine use.
Dr. Nguyen Rangel was raised in Kemah, Texas, and graduated as the valedictorian of her high school class. From there, she continued her education at the University of Texas at Austin, completing both a Bachelors of Arts in Anthropology and a Bachelors of Science in Human Biology. She graduated from the University of Houston-College of Optometry in 2006 and began practicing in Beaumont/Port Arthur area. In September 2008, Hurricane Ike made landfall near the Texas southeast coast, which prompted Dr. Nguyen Rangel to move further inland. She has lived in San Antonio for the past 15 years and now proudly calls it home. She has worked in several optometric modes of practice including relief, commercial, private and at an academic institution, working alongside ophthalmologists. She enjoys spending time with friends/family/pets, volunteering during Fiesta in April, singing karaoke, and practicing hot yoga.
